Here are some photos of my Yugoslovian tour that ran from November 24th. through Dec.4th.,2001 We started with a live radio broadcast from Radio Index 99.8 in Belgrade. We did The Crossroads Program with DJ Vlada Pejek. Vlada is also the orginizer of the tour. He is a wealth of blues knowledge and a great person, we always had good times at every club and every city we went to. The Crossroads program ran 90 minutes and we made two CD's.
Nov.29th. was the first show at Kuglas Club, Belgrade. Owner Nixa Pavid is
running a great club with a warm atmosphere. I played a few solo numbers,
then brought up Pera Joe,
one of the premier harmonica players in that part
of the world.
We did a few numbers and then brought up Stan 'the Man' on
slide guitar. Stan plays with the Raw Hide band, one of the top blues bands in
Yugoslavia.
The three of us did some more tunes and I brought up Jovan, also
from the Raw Hide band, on harmonica and Darko Golic from the Raw Hide band on
upright bass, then brought Pera Joe back, also on harp, to finish the
night.
This concert was taped on DAT by Radio Index 99.8 DJ Natasha. The
sound is as crisp as a mountain pool! We made 2 cd's of that concert which are
available on this site.
After the show I did an interview for a major
newspaper in Belgrade.
Nov 30th. we hit the road for Paracin,
Yugoslavia were I played at cafe-club Fontana. Had a great trip with driver
Ljuba Bozovic. Ljuba is the president of the motorcycle club in Belgrade. He
sure nows how to drive, so we had a good time and I felt really comfortable with
him.
After the show I did a live television program with Milena Kenig
who also has a blues radio program in Paracin. We spent the night with the club
owners Dejan and Saska Sapic. They were wonderful hosts and after a nice
breakfast we went up to the Hungarian border, to the Mojo Club.
Owner Viktor
Lucic is a retired tabletennis champion and has built one of the finest blues
clubs I ever played in. Stan the Man from the Raw Hide band joined me for this
gig on guitar and slide guitar. We spent the night in one of Viktor's bungalows
and then headed for Subotica to play in the club SAX. A beautifully decorated
lounge with a stage that looks like something from King Arthur's court. Owner
Zoltan was also great to us and midway into the show I did a telephone interview
with Radio Index again.
We stayed in a country manor that night, and on
december third went to Zrenjamin to play in 'The Club' in Zeleno Zvono. After
the show owner Bratislav Grubacki took us to a local bar and restaurant that was
decorated just like a country log cabin, were they make their own wine.
We
had a good dinner there and went back to Belgrade in the morning were we played
the final concert of the tour in art gallery Cvijeta. You can see some artwork
in the photos of this club.
December fifth I came back to Holland were I've been doing shows until now. See my club schedules to know were I am playing next!
Thanks to everybody who helped me with this
tour, and I am looking forward for the next tour in March were we want to do
Hungary as well. I will keep you informed about
that.
Cheers,
T-Bone
